Update Contact Information

Method 1: Through the SASSA Portal
- Enter Your ID Number: Go to the SASSA portal and enter your 13-digit South African ID number.
- Enter Your Old Phone Number: Provide the phone number currently registered with SASSA.
- Press Submit: Click submit to proceed.
If you need to update your cell phone number or email address used for communication, you’ll need to verify your identity as the original applicant:
- Identity Verification: Enter your ID number and the 6-digit Application ID (AppID) you received from SASSA.
- Submission Limit: Note that you can submit only one request to update your contact details every 24 hours.
Method 2: Email Support (If Portal Access Fails)
- Email SASSA Support: Send an email to [email protected]
- Mention Your Request: Indicate that you want to change your phone number and provide a reason for the update.
Method 3: Call SASSA Support (If Email Fails)
- Call the SASSA Helpline: Dial 0800 60 10 11.
- Explain Your Request: Inform the representative that you need to update your phone number and explain why.
Method 4: SMS Support (If Calling Fails)
- Send an SMS: If the previous methods are unsuccessful, you can send an SMS to the provided SASSA support number.
- Request and Reason: Clearly state that you want to change your phone number and include the reason.
Note: Try each method one at a time and wait for a response before attempting the next option.
Update Bank Account Information
To update your bank account information for receiving SASSA grant payments, follow these steps on the SASSA portal:
- Enter Your ID Number: Go to the SASSA portal and enter your ID number.
- Check for Updates: If your banking details are up-to-date, you’ll see a notification. If not, proceed to update.
- Select Banking Option: Choose the “Capture Own Bank Details” option if you want to add or update your bank account.
- Enter Bank Details:
- Select Your Bank: Choose your bank from the dropdown list (e.g., TymeBank).
- Enter Branch Name and Code: Select or type in the branch name. The branch code should populate automatically.
- Account Type: Specify the account type (e.g., Savings).
- Account Number: Carefully enter your bank account number.
- Submit Information: Click Submit to save your updates.
- Confirmation: You should see a checkmark or other symbol indicating successful submission.
Confirmation SMS: You will receive a confirmation SMS from SASSA once your bank information has been updated.
